Lake District
This is a classic and if you ask most people, they will have likely already been here and have a favourite spot to go to – but if you’ve never been, here are our favourite pitstops and top tips:
First is of course a must. Lake Windermere is stunning for those picturesque moments but as you can imagine, it is pretty busy in those warmer months. We recommend going in the winter. There are so many cosy Airbnb’s to stay in, which, if you’re anything like us, a hot tub in the winter snow is the one! But more than that, the views in those colder months are worth wrapping up for.
Tebay service station is my next favourite. You may be thinking ‘wait, you drive all that way for a service station’ but once you go, you will see why. Channel 4 have recently shown a documentary on Tebay services as it houses local produce from nearby villages and farms and is the only family-owned motorway service station in the UK. And don’t judge but I drove 1 ½ hours to get one of their famous scotch eggs and it was worth it.
Discover some rarely seen parts of the Lake District by taking a 42-mile-long drive called ‘The Coniston Loop’. This is ideal if you want to see as much as you can in a day. Taking you through Stanley Force Waterfall, Duddon Valley – swipe to see pictures
